Let me lay out the scenario. Sunny warm day. Many miles away from home. In a hotel. Spring break. Lots of kids. All we wanted to do was hang out at the pool, specifically the hot tub. My girlfriend and I both have anxiety around lots of people, ok come on, who doesn't? Anyhow, my girlfriend states "come on, I know how to clear out a pool." I was so confused, I'm like "what, what is that supposed to mean?" Nevertheless, we proceeded to the pool and unbeknownst to my eyes, sure enough, the hot tub cleared out. I was absolutely appalled at the reaction that just took place before my eyes. Not one person spoke to her. Not one person looked the other way, but they stared. See my girlfriend calls herself 'extra fat'. She is beautiful, she has a heart of gold, she would do anything for anyone. She loves unconditionally, yet she still gets hurt and betrayed and continues to love unconditionally. You see the individuals in the hot tub looked at my beautiful friend and didn't know how to act or react so they scattered. No matter how educated, talented, rich or cool you think you are - It's how you treat people that ultimately tells all. Integrity is everything. You should never treat anyone any different based on their weight. That day, in that hot tub, those people should have welcomed her in, chatted up a conversation, and made a new friend.
